Our Focus
Lower Taxes:
New Jersey has the highest Tax Burden in the United States. Over the past four years under the current Council, the municipal tax levy has increased from $11.7 million(1) to $16.9 million(2), a staggering $5.2 million and 45% increase. In tough economic times, the drastic increase to our local taxes by the current Administration is unacceptable. All Township Finances will be thoroughly reviewed in order to decrease the tax burden on the Deptford taxpayer.
Safer Neighborhoods:
According to the 2008 New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Report, Deptford has the highest crime and violent crime index of all 24 Townships located in Gloucester County. In a Township with the highest crime rate in the County, The Current Administration actually cut Deptford Police Department Funding by $681,000 during 2009 as compared to 2008(2). The current Administration's lack of supporting our Public Safety is illogical and unacceptable. We will work collaboratively with Law Enforcement and the Community to combat Deptford's high crime.
Open Government:
The Current Administration is not open and transparent to the community. They are not responsive to the average Deptford citizen. We will televise Council Meetings and work hard in reaching out to all citizens of Deptford as well as the Business Community.
